Lil Peep‘s exact cause of death has reportedly been revealed
Medical examiner confirms fentanyl and Xanax overdose.
The emo rapper whose real name is Gustav Åhr, passed away on November 15th from what was suspected at the time to be a drug overdose, although it was said that a definitive cause of death could not be determined until full toxicology results were published. He was 21. Now, the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner has confirmed that Peep died of a fentanyl and Xanax overdose. The medical examiner’s office told Pitchfork that the “manner of death” was “accidental”.
Peep is also said to have “tested positive for painkillers and tranquilizers including benzodiazepines and tramadol, as well as cocaine and marijuana”. He “tested negative for alcohol”. It was previously reported that police were investigating whether the powerful opioid drug fentanyl could have played a role in Peep’s death. It’s the same drug that was thought to have caused Prince’s death.
Memorials for the rapper took place in New York and London last weekend. Lil Peep’s face was projected onto the House Of Commons at midnight on Saturday night (December 2) in London while family members and friends of the rapper paid tribute to him at a service in Long Beach, California the same day.
